15 April 2010 — As part of our continuing efforts to provide you with the most accurate and comprehensive dataset possible, we're pleased to present the availability of our latest version of the AidData Research Release 1.9.2

Improvements in AidData Research Release 1.9.2

AidData Research Release 1.9.2 fixes a currency conversion issue related to currency conversion for a number of projects from the United Arab Emirates and Iceland. In all, 156 records were fixed.

Improvements in AidData Research Release 1.9.1

AidData Research Release 1.9.1 improves on AidData Research Release 1.9 in the following ways:

• Adds the following donors: Rainforest Trust Fund, World Bank Carbon Offset Fund, Work Bank Special Financing, World Bank DRF, World Bank Managed Trust Funds, Montreal Protocol Fund, and World Bank Guarantees.
• Fixes a small number of projects that were mistakenly left out of AidData Research Release 1.9.
• Fixes a character encoding issue that led to diacritical characters in OECD CRS data being displayed improperly.
• Adds records to IBRD and IDA that were missing as a result of an error in how we accounted for cofinanced World Bank projects.
• Adds USD amounts for a handful of currency-year combinations that were missing.
• Removes line breaks in project descriptions that interfered with user ability in some cases to import data into STATA, SAS, SPSS, and other statistical analysis packages.
• Updates the 2008 CRS data. AidData Research Release 1.9's 2008 data came from the OECD's December 12, 2009 release of CRS ONLINE. AidData Research Release 1.9.1's 2008 data comes from the February 1, 2010 release of CRS ONLINE.

We've updated and expanded the AidData Research Release codebook. Users should consult the codebook for information on methodologies, data collection, data standardization, field names, and field descriptions.

Custom AidData Research Release 1.9.x Download

Choose the content of your dataset below by choosing the donors, recipients, fields, and years for which you need data. Custom exports are downloaded as ZIP archives which contains a comma-separated value (CSV) file of the records in our dataset meeting your selection criteria. Additionally, the ZIP archive contains a data export receipt in a flat text file, which provides detailed information on the accompanying data file. The names of both files include a timestamp indicating when the export was produced.

IMPORTANT: Selecting the textual description fields such as "long_description" and "short_description" may increase the size of the download significantly. The quickest way to avoid problems in importing this data into the analysis package of your choice is to exclude these fields. We strongly encourage you avoid exporting description fields if they are not needed for your analysis.

Full AidData Research Release 1.9.x Downloads

The entire data set is available for download in either CSV or SQL format. Because of the number of large number of fields and records in AidData Research Release 1.9, we strongly advise against attempting to work with these files without the aid of a commercial grade database. Most users will be best served by exporting a small subset of data fields, donors, and recipients using the custom export tool above.

For users who wish to store the dataset locally in an SQL database, an unsupported MySQL dump of the dataset is also available to interested parties.
